Meet Our New Board Members

Oscar Ortiz, is the news Napa County Sheriff. He will be joining the Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition Board of Directors to collaborate with the greater Napa Community and to ensure the safety of the Vine Trail.

Sheriff Ortiz started his career with the Napa County Department of Corrections in 1992, before joining the Napa County Sheriff’s Office in 1996 as a Deputy Sheriff. In June of 2021, Sheriff Ortiz was appointed to serve as the Napa County Sheriff-Coroner by the Napa County Board of Supervisors. Prior to his appointment as Sheriff-Coroner, Sheriff Ortiz was a Captain and assigned to serve as Police Chief for the City of American Canyon. He served as their Police Chief between 2017-2021. Sheriff Ortiz also worked as part of the Napa County Office of Emergency Services (OES) Team, as the Operations Section Chief in the Emergency Operations Center from 2014 to 2021.
Sheriff Ortiz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Management, a California Peace Officers Standards and Training Management certificate, and is a graduate of both the POST Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, as well as the 273rd session of the FBI National Academy. Throughout his career, Sheriff Ortiz has volunteered countless hours at the Napa Sheriff’s Activities League coaching youth sports, primarily boxing.
